Know about the bias tape and how to use it perfectly

let's get down to business, first I would like to explain to you what bias tape is all about. Bias tape is a type of fabric that is been attached to the tip of your fabrics(usually clothes already sown). I know it's kind of confusing, me using fabrics twice in a sentence but a bias tape is also made out of a fabric. If you need to tape the neck of your top or gown or you need to pipe your pillow cover or sharp edge of clothes you need to cover, bias tape can be used. Any cut out fabric can be used as bias tape as long as it is the same length and width of a bias tape and performs the same function as the bias tape. In Nigeria we have a specially made fabric which we call a bias tape. It has been rolled around a plastic, that is what we use generally in Nigeria. You can even use the fabric of the cloth you are making as a bias tape as long as it is being used in taping or piping your clothes, it is definitely a bias. A bias tape can also be used for creative designs on your clothes.

Now let's talk about how to use the bias tape for your clothes. how to use it in piping or taping in Your fabric. First get your fabric/cloth. This fabric you want to used as to be already seen. In my case, I will be taping the neck of my bubu dress.

 

Lay you cloth, make sure the front of the fabric are facing each other.

Then placed under the sewing machine and sew the bias tape on the clothes. It can also be used in taping any other clothes with the same procedure. After sewing the bias around the neck of the clothes. cut out the excess and fold the bias tape into cloth. Fold it in,  thereby using it to turn the fabric in then sew it down and iron out the fabric to look perfect. All done, that's the simplest method used in taping your fabric in.
