Hidden measurements in clothe making

HIDDEN MEASUREMENTS IN CLOTHES MAKING
Hi everyone, how are you doing? Welcome to my page BIBETH FASHION BLOG, i am so excited to have you here. The topic I am sharing today is quite an interesting one,if some tailors/fashion designers have known about this topic a long time ago, some troubles with customers would have been avoided. So I will say you are very lucky because you will be learning about some hidden measurements about clothe making even after taking your body measurements. Let's bounce right to it.
#1
In taking your off shoulder measurements, take four inches out of either your top or your gown measurements. Many people makes mistakes in doing this, some take five inches while some take three, four is perfect because it will allow your top or your gown lay perfectly on your client's body. To take this measurements, your clothe( top/gown) should have been layed with the perfect body measurements with allowance included, then place your tape on the shoulder line of the clothe and measure four inches out of the clothe. For example, if my top measurement is twenty four my off shoulder measurement will be twenty. This measurements works for any body size.

This one is quite a funny one because I have also made this mistake before. When taking the offshoulder length, five inches must be added to your bust length to get the perfect fitting. In my case I measured round the arm and used it in cutting the off shoulder arm I was so lucky that the person I made the dress for was not in the mood to fight or else I would have been beating that day. When I learnt about this trick I tried it and it worked perfectly and all my clients have never complained since then so if you are reading this remember five inches plus your bust length gives you the perfect offshoulder length. This help the offshoulder not to be too tight or too loose. E.g if my bust length is thirty-four then my off shoulder length will be thirty-nine not forty

To get your arm hole measurements for adults just use nine inches except if you are sewing for someone fat you can use nine point five nothing more. I remember while I was still learning I made a top for myself and I used my armhole length as seven point five inches. When the top was done and I tried it I looked like a turkey that was about to fly. It was so funny that even some of my co learners then still remind me of that day. If you are measuring for children it should between seven to eight inches depending on age and size. If it's a five to nine years old, it should be seven inches but if it's a ten to fifteen years old it should be eight inches but remember some children look bigger than their age so you should be able to navigate your measurement around that.

Two inches minus your bust length gives you your tube while I was learning, I once made a short tube dress and was so surprised to see her wearing it as a skirt. Then I asked her why, and she said it didn't fit. So my measurement was wrong. I actually did not tell anyone about it because if my boss had known, I would have entered another trouble entirely. So take note of this measurement, because it works like magic. Tested and trusted.

Two inches below your belly button gives you your top's half length and two inches below you knee length gives you the half length of your dress. This measurement helps when you want to cut a four pieces, six pieces or eight pieces skirt or you want to add a flare to your skirt. The main purpose is actually to allow easy movement while walking.

The part that goes in around your waist is the part to get your waist measurement and also the part to place your dat. To get your dat, measure three inches from the folded part of your clothe while cutting out the body measurements. Hope that is noted.

#7
The standard sewing allowance of a clothe is two inches, but when you get to the waist measurement increase it to three inches because the dat will be taking away one inches while sewing so be careful.
